Differences Between Coaching & Counselling

  • Coaching uses a solution focused approach and emphasizes on the client’s present and future circumstances. The coach identifies what the client feels is missing in their life and they collectively work towards finding more fulfillment. Coaching is ideal for the client who doesn’t feel weighed down by their past traumas/mental health and is looking to either improve at their craft or maybe find more happiness in their lives.   • Counselling often focuses on the individual's past experiences/traumas and works towards improving the person's overall functioning. It offers the client more clarity on their experience and provides them alternative ways to cope with their hardships . It also offers a space where the client can release their stress and work towards finding more joy in their lives. Read below for the different types of counselling!

  • I offer a safe space for teenagers to feel heard. Most teens feel alot better after getting things off their chest and having their feelings validated. I try to provide self awareness and may offer different perspectives to help alleviate stress. READ MORE

  • Your self worth is not based on your achievements. Sometimes we tend to compare ourselves to others and feel inadequate as a result. You may have also had people in your lives that made you feel unworthy. Rewrite your story and work towards finding peace with those experiences.   • There are many studies showing that your thoughts, feelings and behaviours are all interconnected. Our mind and body react habitually based on preexisting patterns. Learn to break these patterns while acquiring the tools to increase your positive energy. Check out my BLOG on depression!

  • Do you find it hard attending large social gatherings? Do you find yourself making plans and regretting it? Do you have difficulty with authority figures?   • If someone makes you feel anxious or uncomfortable, there is a good chance that a boundary needs to be set. Learn to say “no” to mistreatment. Know your worth and learn to put yourself first.   • Perfectionists have a constant feeling of not being good enough. Their standards for themselves are extremely high and unrealistic at times. Perfectionists often procrastinate because of the overwhelming pressure they feel when completing tasks. Work towards self acceptance and get out of the perfectionist trap!   • Are you always trying to make everybody happy? Are you overly concerned about how others view you? Do you have trouble saying “no” to people? Unfortunately, most people pleasers find it difficult to put themselves first. Learn skills like boundary setting and start living life for YOU!

  • New job? Going through a break up? Going back to school? Recently retired? There are many transitions like the ones listed above and they can all be difficult to work through. We sometimes tend to neglect taking care of ourselves when we are overwhelmed. It can be valuable to release stress and receive support while going through these big changes.

  • Do your views and your family of origins’ views differ, based on your heritage? Do you sometimes feel like you’re misunderstood by your family? There could be a conflict between individualism vs. collectivist cultures. Learn to not take these things personally and help set proper boundaries.
